An estimated number of two hundred participants composed of patients diagnosed with hypertension and/or diabetes representing thirty three barangays of Dalaguete with their respective barangay captains as well as barangay committee on health, the Sangguniang Bayan members and the municipal health office unite in one highly successful launching of Dalaguete's very own hypertension and diabetes Club, PITIK which respectively stands for Pagdasig alang sa Igo ug Tinud-anay nga Ikaayo sa Kalawasan in the morning of March 31, 2017.
With the tagline, “Kasingkasing mo, Pinalangga ko”, the club aims to establish an organized group of individuals diagnosed with hypertension and/or diabetes mellitus in every barangay of Dalaguete to effectively mainstream health services and activities for these specific type of patients, empower every Dalaguetnon to practice healthy lifestyle as well as reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Grazed by the presence of Dr. Annessa P. Patindol from the Department of Health - Philippine Package of Essential Noncommunicable Diseases (PhilPEN) program, the launching was both entertaining and informative with the incorporation of light activities devised to benefit the heart and body such as Zumba sessions led by Sir Anthony Zhiene “Tata” Zambrano and an improvised PITIK Giant Board Game which generated a good amount of unnoticeable exercise for participants.
The event couldn't have been made feasible without the undying support and joint efforts from the local government unit and other cooperative sectors of the local community. The health office is optimistic for more activities as such which affirmatively gears community empowerment as well as health awareness and promotion, and disease prevention.
