Through the collaborative efforts of the Municipality of Dalaguete and the Philippine Center for Post-harvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) of the Department of Agriculture, a new upgraded agricultural tramline system spanning almost 1 kilometre has been constructed and made operational connecting two (2) highland agricultural barangays of Dalaguete– the Sitio Caragatan of Caliongan and Sitio Dibdib of Sacsac. On July 6, 2017, officials and representatives from the Municipality of Dalaguete, PhilMech, Cebu Provincial Government, Barangay units and Farmers association led the official Blessing and Turn-over Ceremony of this facility dubbed as Dalaguete Agricultural Tramline 2 signifying its official opening to the general public and target beneficiaries.
The event was started with the cutting of ribbon by Municipal Mayor Ronald Allan Cesante, AICU Head of PhilMech Don David Julian, Agricultural Engineering Unit head of the Office of Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Nancy Quinapondan, and the chairman of Karatagan Irrigators Farmers Association Cipriano Dibdib, followed immediately by the blessing ceremony officiated by Rev. Fr. Daniel Daculan.
At the turn over ceremony, a symbolic key was hand over to Mayor Cesante by Mr. Julian of PhilMech. The key is a material representation to the facility’s envisioned operational outcomes, that is, liberation and empowerment. With this new alternative transport mode, farmer beneficiaries are set to be free from the burden of being locked out to the drudgery of manually hauling farm products and inputs in a 2 hours walk across sloping terrain and rivers. Because fast, efficient and convenient, farm products are transported safely, cutting down post harvest losses translating to better farm returns. The transfer of technology is also made easier and the integration of other projects for other sectoral developments within these connected Barangays is made possible creating opportunities for overall economic improvements.
In his acceptance speech , Mayor Cesante was very thankful to the DA-PhilMech ,Barangay officials, Famer's Association and individual persons who have contributed the technical, resources and supports in the making of this shared vision into a significant reality which is recognize by the Local Government Unit as another breakthrough in the quest for agricultural development.
In his message, Mr. Julian of PhilMech is pleased to announce that the facility is the first ever upgraded version of tramlines PhilMech has constructed over the country. He also stressed out the positive and direct impacts of having the such post-harvest facility in farming industry as well as to other sectors to include tourism.
Dr. Nancy Quinapondan, chief of AEU-OPA presented other programs and projects that will support agriculture sector. These includes the renovation of Caliongan Public Market, the construction of access road from farms to the tralmine’s tower B in Sitio Karatagan and the installation of irrigation sytems.

Expedizitas Lenares, the Dalaguete Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DDRRMO) led by Mr. Junry Tenefrancia, the Information Technology System Management (ITSM), the PNP Dalaguete, Barangay Officials, farmer association members and other stakeholders.
